Before this product is published or connected to a real PA system, confirm the physical dbx model, voltage/power supply, connector condition, switch behavior, knob condition, output routing, and whether it passes clean signal. Wrong crossover wiring or settings can damage drivers, especially tweeters and tops. If the stock item is actually a DriveRack, EQ, compressor, or another dbx unit, the product page must be corrected.

The DBX Crossover should be understood as an analog speaker crossover, not a speaker and not an amplifier. It does not power speakers by itself. Its job is to split the audio signal into frequency bands before the signal reaches the amplifiers, so tops receive the higher/mid frequencies and subwoofers receive the low-frequency range they are built to handle.
In a passive PA system, sending the same full-range signal everywhere can waste amplifier power and stress speakers. A crossover helps the system behave properly by sending bass to subs and cleaner mid/high content to tops. This is useful for churches, DJs, halls, bars, schools, live bands, clubs, rental systems, and event racks that use separate amplifiers for tops and bass cabinets.
This product should not be confused with a dbx DriveRack digital loudspeaker processor. A crossover is more focused: it separates frequency bands and gives level/phase controls depending on model. It usually does not provide AutoEQ, feedback suppression, detailed limiters, room tuning, or app control. That simplicity can be good when the system only needs reliable analog frequency splitting.
Official dbx crossover references use Linkwitz-Riley 24dB/octave filters. In practical terms, this helps create a cleaner split between speaker sections compared with gentle filtering. The crossover point still has to be chosen correctly. If the tops are crossed too low, they can be pushed with bass they cannot handle. If subs are crossed too high, the bass can sound boomy, directional, or unclear.
A dbx crossover can include controls such as low cut filtering, phase inversion, and independent output gain depending on the exact model. Low cut helps remove damaging or wasted ultra-low energy. Phase controls can help tops and subs work together instead of fighting each other. Output gain lets the engineer balance highs, mids, and lows. These controls should be adjusted by listening and understanding the speaker system.
The dbx crossover family includes models such as 223s, 223xs, 234s, and 234xs. Some use XLR connectors, while others may use TRS-style connections depending on model. The exact model matters because it changes whether the unit supports stereo 2-way, stereo 3-way, mono 3-way, or mono 4-way operation. Before publishing, confirm the front-panel model name and rear-panel connectors.
