Studio Monitors
The Yamaha HS8 Studio Monitor is a powered 8-inch studio monitor from Yamaha’s HS Series. It is not a passive speaker, so it does not need an external amplifier. It should receive line-level signal from an audio interface, mixer, monitor controller, or studio output — not speaker-level output from a power amplifier.

It should receive line-level signal from an audio interface, mixer, monitor controller, or studio output — not speaker-level output from a power amplifier.
The HS8 is mainly for nearfield studio listening, where the speakers sit close to the producer, engineer, editor, DJ, or content creator. It is useful for music production, mixing, beat making, podcast editing, video editing, DJ preparation, small studio rooms, and church/media production rooms where the goal is to hear balance and detail rather than just loudness.
The HS8’s 8-inch woofer gives more low-end reach than smaller monitors in the same family. Yamaha lists the HS8 down to 38Hz at -10dB, which helps producers hear kick drums, basslines, low synths, and music fullness more clearly. Still, bigger low-end does not automatically mean accurate low-end. Room size, wall distance, desk vibration, and placement can strongly affect what the listener hears.
Yamaha lists the HS8 with 120W total output power, split as 75W for the low-frequency amplifier and 45W for the high-frequency amplifier. In practical terms, the amplifier section is already built into the cabinet and matched to the woofer and tweeter. The user only needs proper mains power and a clean line-level signal.
The HS8 includes rear-panel ROOM CONTROL and HIGH TRIM response controls. ROOM CONTROL is useful when the monitor is close to a wall or in a bass-heavy space, while HIGH TRIM helps adjust the top-end feel. These controls are helpful, but they are not a replacement for good placement, stable stands, isolation pads, sensible listening volume, and basic room treatment.
The HS8 provides XLR and phone balanced input options. For studio work, balanced cables from an audio interface, mixer, or monitor controller are preferred because they help reduce noise over cable runs. The monitor should not be connected to speaker outputs from an amplifier, and it should not be treated like a PA speaker for outdoor events or parties.
Before this product is published publicly, confirm the exact physical Yamaha model. Check whether the unit is HS8, HS8I, HS8W, or another HS Series model. Confirm the power input, rear controls, XLR and phone inputs, woofer condition, tweeter condition, cabinet condition, noise level, color/version, and whether the monitor plays cleanly without buzzing, rattling, or distortion.
